Brandi, PhD Candidate and Researcher
Hello world, I'm Brandi and I live in Philadelphia, PA.
Coffee or tea? Both, please!
Profession, school or industry? PhD Candidate at Yale University.
What's your guilty pleasure after a long day? Chick-fil-a and watching Outlander or a Hallmark Holiday film.
What does progress mean to you? For me, progress means not giving up. It’s good to have big goals, but even when we think we know how to accomplish them, the daily grind is daunting. Progress isn’t always linear, although it’s part of the larger process. Whenever I lack motivation, start to burn out, or am tempted to just leave everything for tomorrow, I think to myself –what can I do to move forward in the next fifteen minutes? Since the biggest challenge I face in that moment is not giving up –progress is when I don’t give up.
What is one problem that you’d like to take a part in solving in regards to our current workplace or society? In my career, I hope to ameliorate one problem that manifests itself in society in a variety of ways – unequal distribution of resources and opportunity. I hope that through my work as a researcher, a future professor and academic administrator, I will play a part in distributing knowledge, tools, and resources that help people accomplish their highest goals, while becoming more well-rounded and globally engaged.

I believe education continues to be an important vehicle for developing intellectual, artistic, ethical, and professional skills that equip people to become better versions of themselves, and better servants of society.
What's in your Daame bag? Everything I need to thrive! Namely, my laptop or iPad and charger, wireless headphones, a notebook, folder, pencil case, wallet, cosmetic case, my phone, keys, water bottle/travel mug, my planner, fan, a snack, and sometimes a book.
